Barefoot Buddha

Barefoot Buddha is a popular place near where the cruise ships dock. Today, I got their Wrap Of The Day $11.25 Edamame Hummus, Thai Coconut Peanut Sauce, Shredded Carrots, Pickled Red Onions, Sprouts and Fresh Seasoned Spinach. It was pretty good...
not much to look at on the outside...
but the inside is very nice and they have shaded outdoor garden seating...
they just got a cooler that is going to stock a lot of prepared vegan foods for quick pick up...
Driving home I got stuck in a tiny bit of traffic, so I took this pic out the car window....
Below is the 'Veg Out' $8.75 made vegan. Had it about three weeks ago...Carrots, Sprouts, Avocado, Red Pepper, Red Onion, Mixed Greens & Tomato Coulis. Again, it was pretty good...
the most common bird here is the Pearly Eyed Thrasher...
I was expecting to see a lot of Bananaquits, but mainly see these guys all over...
this one was fascinated with some wet sand by the road...
I drive by this Cardinal Vine a lot. Really pretty...
Bye for now.

More Natural Livity

So far, the only place that I've found for Tofu Scramble on the weekend is at Natural Livity. Below is their typical breakfast platter $7 of Scramble, Salad and Pita. Really tasty...
The hot bar on July 15th....
this info is more for myself...
The Peanut Punch sounded incredible, but because I thought it might take a long time to make, I held off on ordering one...
They made it with Agave in just a minute. Extremely thick but obviously very good. Too small!
Other Drink options...
Other carryout lately: More Tofu Scramble with Sausage for breakfast at home...
BBQ Soy Chunks...
a Large $15 carryout order with Field Roast Celebration Roast, Potatoes and Soy Chunks. Makes for several meals...
below is a small dog that lives around the corner from us. If he didnt have a collar, I would snatch him just cuz he is so hilarious looking. He sleeps on his back in the middle of the road (I guess in front if his owner's home). Fortunately, it is not a busy road...
More food pics coming. Bye for now.

More Food and Critters

Not much has been happening here. Got a 'Veggie Club' without cheese and dressing at the Delly Deck. It was okay. Would probably have been better with cheese and dressing (or Avocado, but, surprisingly, there isnt that much Avocado around down here). Most of the meal went to the chickens both at the restaurant and at home. However, I plan to return cuz service and atmosphere were good..
Finally got Salad from the Fruit Bowl. Would have been better if someone else had assembled it...
Last night was the second time I have caught a baby lizard in the house. Unfortunately, this little bugger escaped before I could put him put outside. Hope he finds his way...
Mr. STVegetarian was missing his little girl, so I sent him this pic tonight to make him miss her even more...
Some orange flowers just cuz...
Bye for now.

The Fruit Bowl

This is another nice grocery store in Charlotte Amalie...
cool, bright and clean with very fresh produce...
a beautiful Salad Bar...
they keep it replenished and tidy...
when I finally partake, I will be weighing down my order with lots of these...
Beans Beans Beans and Beets bottom right...
Hard to believe Chao made it down here...
other sample prices...
$7.89 for a loaf of Ezekiel is gonna be tough going...
I got all excited about the prices on the bulk nuts...
till I realized they were per quarter pound..
A mile or two down the road, people bring empty jugs and this guy lops the tops off Coconuts and fills up their jugs.
Unfortunately, he didnt have any customers when I came by to take pics...
Here are some lovely white flowers...
Bye for now.

Ma's Vegi Deli

While I am still chowing down on Summer Tomatoes, here are some recent items carried out from Ma's ...a Vegan Sausage Pate for breakfast...
BBQ Tofu with Beets! Green Banana and Cassava (Green Banana and Cassava are two common food items here that I am still getting used to)...
Gluten with Collards and Garlic Noodles...
Tofu and Spinach Pate for another breakfast...
Tofu Sticks with Mac & Cashew Cheese and Steamed Vegetables...Some meals I can separate out the protein, starch and veg before plating...Others are too intermingled...
Zucchini Cake...
Lasagna..
Carrot Cake...
Here is how I reheat it all: a Hamilton Beach 'Toastation' left behind by the previous owners of the house. Works like gangbusters.
I never had the counter space for a toaster oven before. I have really been missing out,
Bye for now.

Jamaican 'Style' Vegetable Patties

One of the few 'new to me' foods I've discovered in the last three weeks are these Jamaican Style Veggie Patties ...
found in the freezer section of this store, which is sort of like Costco but you dont need a membership to shop there...
unfortunately, Nut Butters are all at least double the price down here...
however, they offer a lot of Field Roast and Worthington products as well as Boca Burgers...
some of the prices are less than I have paid at home...
yes, I have Field Roast Breakfast Sausage in my fridge! Love those little Sausages. Thought I might never taste them again...
the Beefless Burgers are just a couple bucks more than back in Virginia. I will shell out for those eventually..
but back to the Vegetable Patties...they have just the right amount of heat...
Highly recommend stocking up if seen in the International section of your grocer's freezer...
two in a pack, so only $1.50 each....
Alcohol is a good deal down here btw...
some flowers in bloom a couple weeks ago..
never saw anything like these...
Bye for now.
