Nature's Way

Located in Nisky Center near Crown Bay, Nature's Way is a health food store with a little Vegetarian Deli in the back...
the hot bar is the same daily. From the bottom: Lasagna, Beans, Salad, Callaloo Soup, Corn Soup, Tofu and Soy Chunks...
the Lasagna was very different with shredded Carrots in it, not much Tomato Sauce...
the woman working there knows what is vegan and advised that the Grillers were vegetarian...
so I tried the Joan's Lentil Burger. Very healthy with lots of fresh veggies...
a flower in bloom at Drina's Farm...
Kept it food related today. Bye for now.

When The Gander Is Away...

Took a leisurely stroll through Phantasea Botanical Gardens today...
A Dendrobium Orchid from New Guinea called 'Andre Millar' was in bloom..
as well as many other gorgeous plant specimens...
lovely colors...
tried to avoid lizard pics but this little fella was too cute to resist...
impressive whatever this is...
another orchid...
the view of Magen's Bay from the Garden...
finally learned what a Bromiliead is...
Bromilead...
sweet tiny flowers...
Turner Classic Movies is one of my favorite channels. Last night I thoroughly enjoyed a movie from 1935 called 'The Goose And The Gander' with George Brent and Kay Francis (big fan big fan). I was intrigued by this swimsuit Mr. Brent wore...
Ya gotta run into the water holding hands, otherwise it isnt as fun...
more pleasure carried out from the Bordeaux Farmer's Market this afternoon. Yes, those are Mashed Potatoes...
More later. Bye for now.

N'Thing But Veggie

N'Thing But Veggie is a vegetarian restaurant near Crown Bay Marina...
a diamond in the rough...
the insides are clean, cheerful and the owner knows what is vegan and what is vegetarian...
I got an order of Curried Soy Chunks with Broccoli and Pasta...
the above was good, but the Pates were absolutely fantastic. Spinach and Tofu...
TVP... Definitely going to be stocking up on these for breakfast...
cake slices baked by Montez Teferi are sold for $5/slice. Homemade flavor in the best possible way....
cant wait to try more things here.
One of our neighbors has a green thumb. Bye for now.

St. John Again

He Who Likes Virginia Better Than The Virgin Islands is returning to the Old Dominion tomorrow to rake leaves, clean gutters and turn on the heat. Since we wont be seeing each other for a while, we took a vacation day yesterday and hopped a car ferry to St. John...

Breakfast was at Sam & Jack's. I was starving and hastily ordered the 'Skinny Leg' $10 House-Made Roasted Garlic Hummus, Arugula, Roasted Beets and Alfalfa Sprouts in a Wrap. I added Artichokes, but the thing didn't strike my fancy. Wont be getting it again...
we then drove east towards Coral Bay and met a very friendly Goat who agreed to eat the rest of my Wrap...
what a sweetie. Wish I could have taken her home, but she wouldn't be able to roam freely on our property without potentially falling into a rocky ravine...
lots of beauty and tranquility...
more Goats manicuring the baseball field...
lunch was back at De Coal Pot. My Painkiller $8 was not as great, or strong, as the Rum Punch I had there two weeks earlier...
but the 'Veggie Delight' $14.95 was even more fantastic. We spoke to the chef who is from the Dominican Republic and she said the Patties are made of Beans and Flour and topped with Creole Sauce. There has to be more involved because they are so tasty...
lots of pretty flowers...
a better photographer would do justice to these...
picked up dinner at The Little Olive which is located near the car ferry dock...
they supposedly have a vegan daily special, but just didnt have it yesterday...
so I went with the 'Little Olive Plate' $8 Hummus, Olives, Locally Sourced Greens, Homemade Pickled Veggies and Pita. Very nice. This place is cash only, but they dont use styrofoam so yay!
almost home, a block from our house we saw a Red Footed Tortoise crunching on some leaves. He/she stopped eating to wait for me to go away...
It was a nice end to a day full of critters and beauty. Bye for now.

Samplings

The 'Mango Avocado Salad' at The Mafoli Restaurant where we celebrated our 20th anniversary last week...
My 'Hawaiian Tofu Kabobs' were excellent as well, but I was suspicious of the coating on the Tofu, there might have been egg involved. Next time I will probably just get two of the above Salads...
Bobby, the hotel cat...
spectacular views go along with the spectacular food at Mafoli. A special occasion place...
in other news, turns out, the Dinner Roast I've enjoyed several times at Natural Livity and Ital Glory is vegetarian, not vegan. If it tastes too good to be true...
other new-to-me items in Cost U Less. I thought I loved Everything Bagels, but others must love them even more...
and Rice that is just for dogs...not much nutrition there...
still loving the Bordeaux Farmers Market. Locals call the below item 'Mutton Vegetable' and it is used in stews. I passed on it since I doubt I will be making stew ever again...
Yesterdays vegan platter at Bordeaux included Tofu on Okra Fungi with Side Salad and an utterly divine deep fried sweet bread...
Below is a pic of Frenchman's Bay. Pretty nifty...
Thanks for looking, dont want to overload you. Bye for now.
