More Weekend Food and More Fish

'Thirteen' is a restaurant near our house that is too high falutin for a website. The Mr. frequently gets Pizza to go from there and on Friday, they agreed to make a cheeseless Pizza as well. Really excellent (probably better with cheese), but a great new option for me to get...
below is their carryout menu, which offers some Edamame and a couple Salads that can be veganized. I will try those in the future (the Salads, not the Edamame)...
lunch yesterday was at Virgilios. Below is my 'Spaghetti Peasant Style' with Mushrooms, Garlic, Dijon Mustard,White Wine and Tomato Sauce...
as you can see, the interior of the restaurant is really fancy, which is why we usually get carryout. They even have a copy of the Mona Lisa. Service was outstanding, we felt welcome in shorts and t-shirts, a great place with great food.
some wild dogs we saw that would not let me get close. I keep saying I need to carry string-cheese in the car to lure these loose dogs...
here are the few pics that came out from yesterdays dive...a File Fish...
a Honeycomb Cow Fish...
a Sea Lettuce Sea Slug...
new vegan items procured at Plaza Extra today...Bee-less Honey $8.99 and Flavored Coconut Milks $1.69 each. Any recs for what to do with the Honey would be greatly appreciated...
Calvin swam at two different beaches today, in the morning with me and in the afternoon with his Dad. Still doesnt make a dent in his energy level but he is getting really confident in the water. We are proud.
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

  1. The pizza looks delicious, and the spaghetti dish sounds really tasty. I'm intrigued by the Dijon mustard.
I've only had the bee free honey once, and I think I just made a lot of vegan honey mustard dressings, and had some on cereal. Not much help there. I've never seen those coconut milks anywhere! Calvin is soooo cute!!

  2. Nice looking meals! I think the pizza looks fantastic! Use the bee free honey on top of pb toast, on cornbread, on top of plain So Delicious Greek Style yogurt with some grapes, in a cup of hot tea... Report back when you try one or all.

Calvin! Such an energetic little guy!

Remy seems like he would have been one of those cuddly pups. Not one who is constantly out to attack you.

  3. That pizza looks fantastic!! Great to have a spot nearby like that. The pasta looks great there too, nice amount of stuff on there.
Calvin does sound like he has endless energy...! All the swimming he does is impressive.
The honey will be good on toast with peanut butter, as a sweetner in tea, on oatmeal, for dipping tart apples...i've never seen flavored coconut milk like that, those flavors sound good.

Your fish photographs keep getting more impressive !

    1. Taking more pics of fish than food lately. I did have a good Bloody Mary on Sunday, but it was in a red solo cup, so I didnt think the pic would be too impressive.

    2. Well you win... No swimming or fishy photos for me lately- and my sunday was a fantastic middle eastern brunch with a beautiful weak watery blah bloody mary ;( would have rather had the good one in a solo cup!

  4. That pizza looks amazing!! The pasta looks pretty great too. Great finds, I don't remember seeing those coconut milk drinks anywhere! Those look amazing. The bee free honey would be good on toast, in salad dressings, smoothies, drizzled over fruit and yogurt… basically everything everyone said above!

Gorgeous fish photos as always!! Love Calvin!! How is he getting along with sweet Molly?
