Pics From The Cultural Food Fair

It is Carnival time on St. Thomas and today was the Cultural Food Fair. I missed this important event last year and wasn't gonna let that happen again, although, as it turned out, the Fair is not very vegan-friendly...
the front of this guy's shirt...
and the back. I bought one for the Mr. and one for me...
there are around around a hundred vendors selling homemade food and drink...
a lot of stewed things...
I should probably ask what one is supposed to do with Tamarind or Gooseberry Stew...
this non-vegan cake caught my eye...
alumni from Charlotte Amalie Class of 1972 were selling mixed drinks...
the Mr. got some Rice and Beans and Stewed Tofu, but I just got two pieces of cake for later...
Guavaberry Vienna Cake...
and rapidly melting Chocolate Cake. Both from a local farmer.
the Fair is held next to Fort Christian, which just recently re-opened to the public (and was featured on 'The Bachelor' this year). Cant believe I went over three weeks without blogging. That is a record for me, but it gave me insight into why so many people just abandon their blogs without saying 'good bye'. I will be posting lots more (including an upcoming trip to Europe!). Thanks for looking. Bye for now.

A Turn Down Day

Sadie had to be a the vet this morning at 9:00 for her first heartworm treatment, so I took the whole day off. After dropping her off, I popped into Moe's Market on the way home to see what was new and:
never thought I'd see or taste this!
it's always when you have to get $26 worth of ice cream home in a hurry that you get stuck behind a safari going five miles an hour...
as soon as I got the ice cream in the freezer at home, the electricity went out, so I took the pups to the beach...
should've brought my camera, my phone does not take the good pics like everyone else's...
yes, I bring a bag for clean ups...
Molly catching up with her siblings. The electricity came back shortly after we got home...
Little Mama snoozing on my bed rest on the kitchen counter. Who knew that pups would think a bed rest is the greatest toy in the world designed specifically for them to destroy? Now it is a counter cat bed.
Sweet Sadie back at home this afternoon. She goes back for the next treatments May 1st & 2nd and hopefully will receive a clean bill of health after that.
an exotic Iris at a local nursery. More to come. Bye for now.

Too Busy To Blog

Since Sarah got me hooked on The Great British Baking Show, all I want to do is watch Mary and Paul judge 'bakes'.
a Smoked Tofu Sandwich with Cider Vinaigrette Slaw at The Smoking Rooster. Bun appeared non-vegan, so the nearby chicks gladly partook....
the Sandwich came with a side of quality Smoked Vegetables.
The Vegan Burger at Three Sheets Bar & Kitchen was dwarfed by the fresh toppings, but at least they could confirm that the Bun wasnt vegan. The Sweet Potato Fries were as incredible as they look...
this Black Bean Burger at Rum Shandy was pretty decent, but I'm not exactly rushing back for another. If I need a Veggie Burger, I will continue to go to Jen's.
Came driving around the corner and stopped in time for some Iguanas in the middle of the road. Hated to interrupt them, but they picked a very unsafe place for their shenanigans. Hopefully, they stayed in the bushes after I shooed them off the hot asphalt.
Cool flower, huh? More to come, I think. Bye for now.
