All Natural

We had some Papaya Trees spring up practically overnight...
on Sunday, we picked ten Papayas off one tree alone...
you have to wait till the outsides turn yellow to eat 'fresh', although cooked Green Papaya is also a thing. Unlike commercially grown Papayas, these are mostly seeds. Gotta cut up two or three in order to get a serving, but they do taste good...
St. Thomas is the first place I had ever even seen Fresh Green Almonds..
I bought a half pound and assumed there was a regular Almond inside, however, the inside contains a soft seed. That is when I decided to read up on what I had bought. Not unpleasant, but not exactly delicious either, wont be buying again.
When the Mr. came back from Virginia last month, he brought me a container of TJ's Everything Seasoning. Finally got to try Sarah's Avocado Toast. Very tasty and fun!
Speaking of Sarah, I often thank her for getting me off the wine and on to the Vodka. This week I found Vodka from the Dominican Republic. Exotic! I bought two bottles.
Recently stopped to take pictures of some flowers and saw a cool bumper sticker...
these are the flowers I stopped to photograph. Thanks for looking. Bye for now.

Friday Favorites

After feeling exhausted all week, I decided to take today off. Of course the Pups woke me up at 4:10am and would not let me go back to sleep...
At breakfast, Gladys' sister, Pauline, agreed to show me how she cuts up a Mango in seconds flat. She sure made it seem easy. It is Mango season now, so maybe I will pick some Mangos up off the street and practice preparing them...
also had my first Avocado Toast since being back...
Keeping with the theme of my vacation day, lunch was at De Coal Pot. First time there since being back. I think I am starting to feel 'normal' again...
En route back from lunch I picked up some Pineapples at a roadside stand. They said they were grown on Island, so it will be interesting to see if they are any good.
While eating lunch at De Coal Pot, I noticed lots Soups being carried out, which was odd because there is no Soup on the menu. Turns out they have a Red Bean Soup that it is made vegetarian and they add the meat later. I got some to go for dinner. Unfortunately, the Soup was surprisingly sweet to my tastebuds, so I really shouldnt include this as a favorite, but I am posting about my day so there it is...
My Sweet Sweet Sadie is a huge favorite, she always makes my day. Lots more to come. Bye for now.

Trying New Things

Shoreline Bar and Grill has some new-to-me vegan items on their menu...
Sunday breakfast was the 'Vegan Benny' - Layered White Potatoes, Spinach, Tomato, Avocado, Grilled Onions and Coconut Curry Sauce. I dont know if it was the Onions or Curry Sauce, but the dish was surprisingly sweet. Belongs on the Lunch or Dinner menu IMO...
now their 'Irie Veggie Medley' of Crispy Tofu, Stewed Chickpeas, Sauteed Spinach and Peppers with Rice was absolutely delectable! Huge fan of this dish and so thrilled to find another satisfying vegan meal on the Island....
'Balsamic Soy Roasted Mushrooms' at Sabroso is another great meatless dish. They use big fresh Mushrooms...
at home, still enjoying the carryout Soups. This was Black Bean Soup from Moe's Market. Great batch of Soup this week...
As far as actually making something for myself, that has been limited lately to Gardein Fishless Filets. Hard to believe, but they sort of are like fish (Pasta Salad from Ma's Vegi Deli in the background).,..
Breakfast has become all about PB and Banana! Thank you Sarah and Ingrid for reminding me of this option. Really been enjoying breakfast lately. Lots more to come. Bye for now.

Back In The USVI

Arrived home late Sunday night and all my babies survived...
Monday morning, Scrat, Calvin and Molly were back on the beach...lousy phone pic...
for some reason, I was craving Mexican, so we did Greengos for lunch...
Tuesday's lunch was Black Bean Soup carried out from Frenchtown Deli...
yesterday, we did Jen's Island Deli...
today I carried out Cashew Tofu from Saki House, but forgot to take a picture, so here is what is looked like when I ate there on April 29th. I am still kind of out of it from the trip.
Lots more to come. Bye for now.

Paris -> London

Checked out of our hotel in Paris this morning...
and walked down St. Germaine to Le Pre...
very lovely bistro...
another version of Avocado Toast that was reliably delicious (ate all the Salad as well)...
tres francaise...
an accurate poster about the food in France...
departed on the Eurostar from Gare Du Nord...
arrived in St. Pancras at 11:30 and our hotel room wasnt ready...
so we went to Portobello Market...
it was a mob scene...
live musicians every block..
produce markets...
flower vendors...
tons of antiques...
stuff you never knew you needed...
cool fashions...
and food...
Bruschetta...
Juices...
Indian..
we didnt have enough pounds to buy food from the vendors, so we stumbled upon Market Thai...
my Tofu with Cashew Nuts was a nice and light meal...
more strolling brought upon Legendary Fries...
got rid of our last pounds on a small order of Fries. They lived up to their name...
finally got back to the hotel. It was kinda sterile and corporate, not really my style, but the location was convenient...
we ordered delivery of Mildred's...
their Fries were lackluster, but the Basil Mayo that came with them was awesome. So that was the trip, I accomplished pretty much everything I set out to do, flying home tomorrow. Appreciate all who looked. Bye for now.
